OUR NEW YORK FASHION WEEK REPORT

This season, the fashion world visited the city that never sleeps for a long weekend’s worth of thundery weather, no less — and hosting a number of landmark events, including the return of brands like Ralph Lauren and 3.1 Phillip Lim to the calendar, as well as debuts from up-and-coming designers like Grace Ling.

This is a quick re-cap of our favourite collection, top trends and eye-catching looks from this Season so far.

One of the most anticipated shows was certainly the return of Ralph Lauren to NYFW who appeared back in the big apple since 2019. His return to the city he was born in 83 years ago felt like a warm hug for so many - even if it did require a journey to the Brooklyn Navy Yards.

This Season, Lauren’s Colorado themed Ranch runway was styled with plush white chairs, chandeliers hanging by ropes, and walls lined with empty gilt frames. The surroundings were giving artist’s loft but the vibes were purely New York, illuminated by the sparkling lights, candles, and champagne glasses fit for a party straight out of The Great Gatsby.

The designs themselves included lots of iconic Ralph Lauren signature fabrications such as denim—lots of it—but it was embroidered in beads, sequins and floral prints, or lined with chiffon and tulle for a new twist. Amongst the chic and cool signature staples of Laurens relaxed yet elevated everyday looks, we witnessed a slew of party looks, accessorised with layers of colourful beaded necklaces; bright, bold dresses that draped around the body before collapsing into a fringe that swayed with each model's step; and two gold looks that closed the show.

It was so lovely to welcome back Lauren to the NYFW scene as not only did he truly 'complete the schedule' but he brought back with him the sensibility that timeless styles will always be in fashion but adding playful touches can in essence take your look to that next level, proving that investment pieces are indeed always worth it.
Whilst the weather outside may definitely not feel like it, this Season was of course dedicated to Spring 2024 and with that Michael Kors decided to take us away on holiday, for an exotic runway experience that makes us excited for the New Year.
What we loved about his collection was not only the vibrant colours and easy-wear outfits, but that these silhouettes are indeed an 'everyday wardrobe for anywhere in the world' and that Kors is really introducing the spirit of holiday dressing all year round.

This Season, Kors has really embraced a solution for the increasing warm weather around the world and that as a result we are increasingly dealing with the, ‘How do we get dressed?' question! Particularly when it’s too warm outside – or in the office, it’s freezing – so how do we have something that works in both situations?” Showing again that layered looks and easy wearing separates are firm foundations of any wardrobe.

Notable names on the runway included Supermodels Emily Ratajkowski and Ashley Graham who walked in the show which was staged in a Brooklyn park overlooked by the Williamsburg Bridge, while Blake Lively went all-out in a Studio 54 inspired look whilst sitting on the front row in a ’70s-inspired gold jumpsuit.

Now when it comes to redefining fashion, we love seeing how designers, especially those labels which are upcoming, showcase these eye-catching silhouettes for the modern women. This Season we welcomed Grace Ling's debut at NYFW who over the past few years has becoming a buzzing brand as one to watch because of her affinity for seemingly sleek designs that balance sensuality and strength.

For Spring / Summer 2024 Ling held her runway at a gallery in NYC’s industrial arts district, a waft of fog shielded a beam of light between two chrome walls, which the models would emerge and quickly after the fog filled the air, the show itself began.

As the looks slowly cascaded down the runway, the collection was built via sheer gradient dresses, one-leg dresses with three-tone side detailing, bodycon two-piece sets with chrome inserts, leather jackets, dagger dresses and more.
Amongst the entire new pieces, Ling also embedded some of her signature brand staples like the leather oversized jacket. We loved seeing her balance sensuality and formality throughout her designs and know she will be one to keep an eye on for future Seasons.
